Falcon is alive and well after the long windy and hot days of the past few weeks. Last weeks 4 inch rain has helped the deep bite. On Monday I took a client out and we started fishing using a Watermelon Red Football Jigs in Watermelon Red. The morning bite has been slow for the past week or so but at about 10 am the fish start to bite. We had fish up to 6 pounds on the football jigs and then we went Flippin. We had several fish in the 7 lb range and lost a monster. At the end of the day we stopped back on a rock hump and first cast caught one over 8lbs.

Tuesday I stayed on the Zapata end because of uncertain wind reports. Had one six early and then caught small fish until 9:30 am. Had several other fish in the 4 to 6 lb. range Flippin bushes in 2 to 4 foot of water. Big fish came flippin on a point in 4 foot. It was a 9lb. 11 oz.
Today it’s raining like crazy and with Tropical Storm Dolly moving in we should put quit a bit of water in the lake. Usually that means I will have to go out and find some new areas. The forecast is for us to get 6 to 12+ inches. We are already approaching the 3-1/2 inch mark as I am writing this. This is probably our best bet to put some much needed water into Falcon. More to come….
Had a Thursday Friday trip this week to Sugar and we caught good fish up to 11 lbs 11 oz on crankbaits and 1 oz. JoBaby Football Jigs .
DD22’s and Hot Lips crankbaits in chartreuse and shad colors as well as jigs in Watermelon Red and Tilapia worked best. The recent rains have seen an increase in the water level. It looks to be up about a foot from last week. Fish were very on Thursday with best five weighing 43+lbs. Friday was off a little with only 37+ pounds. More to come….

The recent hot weather and rains have moved the Falcon fish shallow. Although you can still catch fish fairly deep I have recently done well flippin and throwing spinnerbaits. I do start out most mornings throwing a Chart and white JoBaby FLT Spinnerbait . Once the sun comes out the fish move close to the cover and the flippin bite is in 4 to 8 feet of water on points and creek channels. Worms and Jigs in watermelon and pumpkin green are working well. More to come

Sugar Lake was the place for big fish this July 4th Holiday. We started the day on Friday with threats of rain. We were lucky that we only had intermittent showers so we never really got soaked with the rain. Showers were all around through out the day but we managed to miss the major storms. Fishing was good with the big fish of the trip going over 12 pounds. We had one nine and several 8’s with 7’s and 6’s through out the day. Saturday was not as good as we awoke to a rain storm that finally made it ways through and then the winds blew at about 15 to 20 as other storms blew through the area. We really never got wet but had to run from several showers. Crankbaits still rule on Sugar. Color patterns are any chartreuse type DD22 or Hot Lips crankbaits. This was another trip with 5 fish over 40 pounds. More to come……
